Taking everyday objects as motifs, the artist produces and exhibits objects that capture seemingly ordinary but unlikely happening moments. Using PET material, the concept is “what would happen if we breathed life into everyday objects”. The artist has participated in numerous art fairs and exhibitions in Japan and Korea, Hong Kong, Europe, and the United States, including a collaboration with top Korean designer Lie Sang-Bong at the 2011 Paris Collection.

Matsueda’s work gives a twist to the familiar objects of everyday life. I want to get out of the flat world. What happens when we step out of the confined space into the outside world? Speaking of the figure in the emergency exit indicator light, being trapped in flat space is an emergency. The figure leaps out into the outside world. This penetrating power strongly moves the viewer’s heart.
