Jiang Miao was born in Jilin Province, China. She holds a master’s degree from the Printmaking Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. With a solid academic foundation, her practice has evolved over the years—from realism and woodcut techniques to her current unique visual language. Jiang has developed a distinctive personal style by combining the carving techniques of woodcut with the vibrant layering of acrylic, creating richly textured and colorful paintings.Influenced by Eastern philosophy, Jiang approaches her work as a meditative, almost spiritual practice—an ongoing process of reflection and self- enlightenment. Through it, she seeks inner balance within the vast cosmos, and explores a personal landscape of mind and spirit, along with a deeper understanding of the cycles of life.
From 2003, she began to explore the idea of yin and yang, point and line, energy and life interpretation, thus forming the eastern worldview of “Nature and Man as one”.In recent years, Jiang has been working on her life themed art. By applying "trigram", symbol of the soul "spiral", and energy-releasing "color" as the major visuals, the works suggest life and truth of spirit, soul, and body; they absorb energy from the invisible, and release spiritual energy and magnetic field into the material world, contributing continuous thought of the future of human civilization to the current materialized and problematic world. The "Heavenly eyes" series of works inspires people to view enlightenment and rebirth separately through the eyes of the human eye and the eyes of heaven. Horizontal placement is the human eye, vertical placement is the divine eye; The human eye perceives phenomena, while the divine eye perceives the truth.
