Yu-Ching Lin (b. 1983) and Hsing-Yu Wei (b. 1982) are a Taiwanese artist duo who have been collaborating since 2006. Over the past 17 years, their works have been showcased at numerous international art fairs and have been collected by prestigious institutions such as the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (Taichung), Dr. Stanley Ho Foundation (Macau), Angela Leung Foundation (Hong Kong), and the Yan Lugen Art Foundation (Nanjing). Their works are also held in private collections across Hong Kong, Macau, China, Japan, Korea, the U.S., and Taiwan. They have exhibited by invitation at Museum Of Contemporary Art of Yinchuan, Ratatà Festival, Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts, and Pao-Gao Tech Park. Their artistic language is characterized by serene gradients and compositions reminiscent of wet frescoes, evoking a calm, immersive visual experience. The duo constructs visual narratives based on the principle of synchronicity, condensing extended storylines into a single pictorial frame. Much like religious murals or the famed “Along the River During the Qingming Festival,” their works unfold through the viewer’s shifting gaze, offering both panoramic overviews and detailed vignettes. A recurring figure named “Wulala” serves as a symbolic guide—a projection of the artists’ inner world that invites viewers into a realm where anxiety coexists with wonder. Wulala and other characters evolve over time, reflecting the artists’ emotional states and narrative transitions. Their works are often accompanied by poetic texts that whisper beneath the surface of reality, translating inner monologues into visually intricate and emotionally resonant expressions.
